"Round two — this time, the entire scramble including water crossings, start to finish."
***THIS IS NOT A HIKE*** This trip is 75% rock scrambling, 15% water crossing, 10% stairs climbing. Check out the photos from our previous trip BEFORE signing up for this one. We’ll try our best to get permits so we can take advantage of the park's fun activities, but hey, if that doesn’t work out, we can drive 20 minutes to hike a D4 to Glassy Mountain. Safety briefing starts promptly at 10AM, we should plan to arrive to the park no later than 9:30am.
- Permits are free but limited to 100 per day. - Weather, water flow conditions, scheduled water releases can restrict access to the gorge floor. - We will call ahead the day before to confirm with the park.
We’ll kick things off at the visitor center with a 30-minute safety briefing led by a wonderful park ranger. Afterward, we’ll sign the mandatory waivers, which is a way to ensure everyone takes safety seriously. The park ranger will walk us through our route in detail and be happy to answer any questions you might have. Please don't test her patience by being too chatty during the briefing, hopefully she doesn’t remember me from December 2025. Here’s what you can generally expect:

| Carpool Cost: | Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $62.40 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances. | ||||||
