Itinerary:

We hike at Island Ford every Thursday, but that hike is a fast one, not suitable for members who don't want anything too strenuous or fast, but are still looking for some good exercise.  This is your chance to see some of the park and to hike on the new trails that have recently been completed in the park.  The new trails are much more foot friendly with very few root and rocks.  Of course, we will have to be on some of the old, more technical trails, but with our moderate pace, it should be manageable.  If you're a true beginning hiker with little or no experience, you might want to pass on this hike until you get some more trail miles under you.

We'll meet in the very first parking lot on the left as you enter the park.  It's called the ISLAND FERRY lot  (33.995113, -84.332382) that has about 40 parking spaces.   Do NOT drive farther down the road unless you're going to the Visitor Center bathroom, about a mile from the park entrance.

We'll meet at 9:50 am to make introductions and take a group photo. We leave on time, so don't be late!
