Itinerary:

Join me  for some fun Fall Pioneer Camping!

Located between Atlanta and Athens, Fort Yargo features a 1792 log fort built by settlers for protection against Creek and Cherokee Indians. Today, visitors come to Fort Yargo for its wide variety of outdoor recreation and scenery. Mountain bikers and hikers can test their endurance on 21 miles of trails. A 260-acre lake offers a large swimming beach, fishing and boat ramps. The park’s wooded disc golf course is exceptionally challenging.

The pioneer camp site is located by itself. It has water but no electricity, fire rings, and pit toilets. The area has two Adirondack shelters, a picnic shelter, and horseshoe pit. It is located in a large wooded area approximately 100 yards from the lake and hiking trails. Swimming, mini golf, boat and kayak rentals are short walks by trail to the beach area which now opened to the public. There are also civilized bathrooms a stones throw away (60-80 yards) from the camp site.

Beginning Friday afternoon, we will arrive and set up camp (feel free to arrive anytime after 1pm). Dinner will be on your own and we can enjoy the rest of the evening getting to know each other. Saturday, after breakfast, we will do an area hike (probably a D3) and then the rest of the day is on your own kayaking (bring your own or rent at the park), paddle boarding, card and/or board games, bocce ball, watching grass grow, naps, or juggling are all excellent ways to pass the time. Later, we'll have a potluck dinner and then we can relax around the fire. Sunday morning, plan to relax and enjoy the beach or trails or any of the activities mentioned above. Please note, we're required to vacate the site by 1pm..

The cost to attend this event is $25/person ($5 per registrant will go to AOC to support the club's operating and adminstrative expenses). You can send payment to (Friend or Family) via:

Venmo to @Ayo-Adesanya
PayPal to @AyoAdesanya

If the option to pay Hakeem Adesanya shows up. I'm the same person.

Payment is due no later than September 25th or upon registration after that date, but I encourage early payment to guarantee attendance. If payment is not received, you will be moved down to the waitlist.

NOTE: This is being planned as a BRING YOUR OWN MEAL event. However, folks have the option to bring cooking utensils to use/share at the camp site or enjoy meals at the several local restaurants nearby. We had potluck dinner last year, which turned out to be great fun. If you'd like to participate in the potluck dinner on Saturday evening, please bring a dish to share.

Join us for a fun and relaxing edition of pioneer camping...

*PLEASE NOTE: expect possible late nights carousing around the campfire, and an awesome weekend!  There is plenty of room around the campsite to be a little distant and have quiet time alone, if that suits you.
