Itinerary:
Begin your day by giving back and helping out at a beautiful branch of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area - Akers Mill!

We will be raking, clearing, and performing trail maintenance.  Wear clothes and shoes/boots you don't mind getting dirty.  Don't forget to bring your work gloves!  Also a change of clothes for afterwards if you would like.  Tools and training are provided by park staff and fellow volunteers.

The temperature will be cool and comfortable warming into the high 50s.  

We will meet at the Akers Mill parking area. 

Please plan to arrive early if possible to ensure a parking spot and sign the AOC Trip Waiver (on site) before we meet with other volunteers and head out. 

There is a $3 parking fee per vehicle.


Required Items to Bring:
Comfortable work clothes, boots/shoes, gloves. Plenty of water to stay hydrated.		Recommended Items to Bring:

From I-285 East

  • Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
  • Right on Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
  • Right 1.5 miles to Akers Drive
  • Left at the wooden "mill wheel."
  • Unit entrance road will be the second left with visitor parking on the right.

From I-285 West

  • Take exit 22, New Northside Drive, Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
  • Straight to second traffic light.
  • Left on Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
  • Right 1.5 miles to Akers Drive
  • Left at the wooden "mill wheel."
  • Unit entrance road will be the second left with visitor parking being on the right.

From U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway North) to Akers Mill Road

  • Right 1 mile; pass the second entrance to Palisades Apartments.
  • Right at the wooden "mill wheel" onto Akers Drive.
  • Take second left, visitor parking will be on the right.

From U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway South) to Akers Mill Road

  • Right 1 mile; pass the second entrance to Palisades Apartments.
  • Right at the wooden "mill wheel" onto Akers Drive.
  • Take second left, visitor parking will be on the right.
