All hikers are invited (newcomers, beginners, intermediate and fast hikers). Many AOC members have mentioned to me that they would like to hike Kennesaw Mountain, but are not ready for the D4s or 5s at Kennesaw. With this in mind, don't miss out on the opportunity to visit Kennesaw Mountain. Kennesaw battlefield is known for its mountains, nature, wildlife, history and beautiful trails. The park covers around 16 or more miles of trail with elevation gains of up to 2600 feet (Big Kennesaw and Little Kennesaw Mountains). For this hike we are going to keep it simple so anyone can join. The hike will begin at the visitor's center in which we will hike straight up Kennesaw Mountain 1 mile with an elevation gain of 700 ft. Next, we will head back down the mountain (1mile) and turn to Camp Brumby (flat trail) for another mile which loops us back to the visitor's center. The hike is only 3 miles, but there will be a 700 ft. elevation gain in approx. 1 mile. This is a bit challenging, but do not let that keep you from signing-up for the event. The hike starts at 7:30 am so it will be cooler, and hikers will have 1 1/2 hours to complete the hike. Look forward to hiking with everyone! | |||||
