Itinerary:

Join me for a scenic North Georgia hike as we summit Coosa Bald (4,271 feet), one of Georgia's 4,000-foot peaks! This hike is part of my goal to summit all 32 peaks on Georgia's 4,000-footer challenge list, and I'd love for you to join me!

Located in the Chattahoochee National Forest near Blairsville and Vogel State Park, Coosa Bald offers a beautiful hike through the North Georgia mountains, with peaceful forest scenery, mountain views, and a rewarding summit.

Our carpool will meet and Windward Park and Ride for an 8am departure time. We'll head to FS-108 to Coosa Bald for a hiking time of 10am.

We'll begin our hike near Wolf Pen Gap Road and follow West Wolf Creek Road to Calf Stomp Road (FS-108). From there, we'll continue along the forest service road until we reach the Coosa Backcountry Trail. We'll follow the trail uphill toward Coosa Bald, enjoying the changing scenery as we gain elevation.

Once we reach the summit, we'll take a well-deserved break to enjoy the surroundings, take pictures, and celebrate another Georgia 4,000-footer! After our break, we'll retrace our steps back to our vehicles.

Hike Details:

  • Distance: Approximately 8.1 miles round trip

  • Elevation Gain: Approximately 1,781 feet

  • Summit Elevation: 4,271 feet

  • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Trail Type: Out and back

This hike includes forest service roads and mountain trails with steady uphill sections.

Come enjoy a great day in the North Georgia mountains as we check another 4,000-footer off the list!
