Itinerary:

Join me for a great afternoon of hiking along the West Palisades!  Although we begin hiking along a concrete path, we soon switch to dirt path as we enter the woods.  I plan to keep a moderate pace to keep the heart rate up.  There are some elevation changes as well, so please wear supportive hiking boots/shoes.

This section of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area is quite scenic.  There is a lot of wildlife throughout the park.  You may spot a blue heron quietly standing along the riverbank, or a red tail hawk soaring high above. 

The National Park Service has also been spotted here performing a trout release as they help replenish the native fish population. 

You're welcome to bring your well-behaved canine friend.  Leash and clean up laws are enforced.  Please be respectful of your fellow hikers.


Required Items to Bring:
$3 parking fee, PLENTY OF WATER TO STAY HYDRATED!!!!, comfortable, supportive hiking boots/shoes, snacks, and a relaxed attitude.		Recommended Items to Bring:

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From I-285 East

  • Take exit 19 U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway)
  • South 1.5 miles to the unit entrance on right, just beyond the BP Service Station. Do not cross the Chattahoochee.

From I-285 West

  • Take exit 20 U.S. 41(Cobb Parkway)
  • South 1.5 miles to the unit entrance on right, just beyond the BP Service Station. Do not cross the Chattahoochee.

From I-75 North

  • Take Exit 256, Mt.. Paran Road.
  • Left on Mt.. Paran Road to U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway). Turn right on U.S. 41 for 1 mile cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate left onto entrance road.

From I-75 South

  • Take Exit 256, Mt.. Paran Road.
  • Right on Mt.. Paran Road to U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway). Turn right on U.S. 41 for 1 mile cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate left onto entrance road.

Notes:
Restrooms are located near the parking area.  I plan to keep a moderate pace.
