Itinerary:

Let's meet for a scenic morning hike on the Stone Mountain Cherokee Trail. We will walk around the mountain and then climb up it at the end.

The hike is approximately 7 miles, and we will keep a moderate pace. If you are a slow hiker, then please sit this one out. No slow hikers. You must have significant D2 experience to join this hike.

**Your trip leader is also the Director of Social Media and Content for the club and is producing a documentary about hiking. She will be recording video on this hike. If you sign up for this hike, then you agree to be in some of the video as an "extra."

During our hike, we'll ses a diverse landscape featuring lush forests, serene lakes, and impressive geological formations.

About 3/4 way through the hike, we will stop for ten minutes for a snack/restroom break near the Grist Mill.

We will meet for our hike no later than 7:45 am near the restrooms located near the Historical & Environmental Education Center (also called Confederate Hall). The restrooms are adjoined to the parking lot in a separate building.

If this is your first time on this trail, then please give yourself some extra time to arrive and find the meeting spot.

There is a $25 parking fee to enter the park. An annual parking pass is $40. However, free public parking is available in Stone Mountain Village, which is about a 10 -15 minute walk from the park. See directions below.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Driving directions: To the main park entrance - From I- 285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile, stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. The Historical & Environmental Education Center (also called Confederate Hall) will be on your left. The parking lot will be immediately after. We'll meet near the restrooms adjoined to the parking lot.

If you would like to find free public parking in Stone Mountain Village, then try parking near 5407 East Mountain Street. (Front Porch Mexican Restaurant). From there it is a short walk (north) to the park (about a 10-15 minute walk). Walk along East Mountain Street and enter the park through the gate -- and then you'll walk toward the nearby parking lot where the restroom building is located. (Our meeting spot.)

A map of the park can be found on link below -- and location to meet is near #16 and #17 on the map.
