Itinerary:

We will meet at the main Visitors Center at 1:50pm and start our hike at 2:00pm.   We'll be hiking along the trails of Red Top Mountain in Cartersville, GA off I-75.  This area was named for the rich red color of the soil throughout the park.  The red color is an effect of the high iron ore content and which was once mined locally.  There are approximately 15 miles of hiking trails that flow along Lake Allatoona, rise high along Red Top Mountain, and twist and turn throughout this beautiful park.  We will take a 5 ½ mile path through forests of trees, across fields of grass, and along the shoreline of the lake.
