Itinerary:
I know it's short notice, but if you enjoy singing and/or partying and haven't made plans yet for this evening (Mon Dec 20) consider donning some colorful holiday apparel and joining me and several dozen of my friends for our "2010 edition" of an annual festive outdoor caroling hike & party here in NE Atlanta.
Hosted by the "Atlanta Moonlite H4" chapter of the Hash House Harriers, this "Tacky Light Tour" begins with a friendly 7:00 PM "START" gathering in the free rear parking lot of the Sears Auto Center by Northlake Mall.  It continues with a heart-warming Christmas caroling stroll through a nice NE Atlanta neighborhood (singing at the front door of perhaps a dozen homes) and ends with a big outdoor party complete with delicious food & refreshments and perhaps a roaring campfire!
Each caroler is encouraged to wear bright wild and crazy attire and a "tacky light" or two (if you happen to have) attached to your clothing—hence the name of the event.
No funds are collected by the AOC, but each of us who takes part is asked to contribute $10 for our fair share of the bountiful refreshments and food (payable at the START to the "Hash Cash" registrar).
Look for me (Charlie, a.k.a. "Dirty Limerick") in the START area wearing a red baseball cap and "reindeer antlers."  I'll introduce you to other members of our AOC "subgroup" (and to some of my Harrier friends) and have you sign our AOC waiver form.
Some of our revelers may wish to hang out together after the "After-Party" and stay up late to witness the amazing total eclipse of the moon.  The full moon will become noticeably darkened by about 1:30 Tuesday AM and totally eclipsed between 2:41 and 3:53 AM as it passes (right to left) through the earth's shadow.  Visible throughout North America, this will be the first total lunar eclipse to occur on the winter solstice in about 500 years!!!

Required Items to Bring:

• Wear several layers of Warm Clothing, comfortable well-broken-in Running or Walking Shoes with warm socks, a warm Cap or Hat, an Gloves or Mittens -- also a "tacky light" or two if you have any on hand.
• Since we may occasionally be dimly lit areas during the Caroling portion of the event it's a good idea to wear a small Headlamp or to bring a small Flashlight.

• As discussed above, each of us should bring $10 in cash to contribute to the "Hash Cash" volunteer when we register for the event in the Start Area.  This covers our fair share of the bountiful food & refreshments.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

• If you like, bring a compact folding Chair and a small Duffel bag with extra warm clothing, etc. for use at the "after-party."  Free transportation will be provided by hash volunteers to get everyone's bag and chair from the Start to the backyard "after-party" location during the hike—also If the party is more than a short walk from the Start area, free rides will be provided after the party to get you back to your vehicle.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:
DIRECTIONS from "SPAGHETTI JUNCTION" I-285/ I-85" INTERCHANGE in NE ATLANTA:

1) Take I-285 "East" (southward) toward Augusta about 3 miles and exit to your right at the Northlake Parkway exit (Exit #36).

2) Turn Right onto Northlake Parkway and go about 0.7 mile to its end at the traffic light at Henderson Mill Road.

3) Turn Left onto Henderson Mill Road and go just 0.1 mile to the first traffic light at Fielding Drive.

4) Turn Left at that light then immediately Left again into the Sears Auto Center parking lot (NW end of Northlake Mall complex).  We'll park and gather in the rear portion of that free lot near the junction of Henderson Mill Rd & Northlake Pkwy.
