Itinerary:
Moderate to Very Strenuous

Backcountry use permits are required. We will use the self-registration station at the Deep Creek Campground. We will start our hike by going through a tunnel and on the Lakeshore Trail. It is 1.9 miles to White Oak Branch Trail. Continuing on White Oak Branch for 1.8 miles to Forney Creek trail. After 2.5 miles on the Forney Creek Trail we will arrive at the Jonas Creek campsite. This is our campsite for the night. The next morning after breaking down camp, we will take Jonas Creek Trail for 4.1 miles to Welch Ridge Trail. After hiking 3.9 miles we will come the junction with Bear Creek Trail. At this point we will take a side trip to High Rocks. This side trip is 1.8 miles. After enjoying the views, we will return to the Bear Creek Trail. It is 2.9 miles to the Poplar Flats campsite. This is our campsite for the night. After a restful night, we will continue on the Bear Creek Trail for 3.0 miles to the Forney Creek Trail. It is a short .4 miles to the Lakeshore Trail and then 2.0 miles to the trailhead.

The 1st day we will hike 6.2 miles and gain ~400 feet of elevation.
The 2nd day we will hike 12.7 miles and gain ~2,800 feet before lossing ~2,400 feet of elevation.
The last day we will hike 6.3 miles and lose ~800 feet of elevation.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Bryson City Park & Ride only Take I-85 north to I-985 north to US 23 north to US 74 west to Bryson City. Once in Bryson City going to the Deep Creek Campground before taking Lakeview Drive to the trailhead.

Are Dogs Permitted? No (park regulations)
