Itinerary:
Moderate 7.5 Mile Hike, Total Elevation gain of 1,800 feet

The parking lot is located at the trail head where a beautiful clear river is visible on the right, this is one of the trails I love in GA, its a loop trail in a heavely wooded trail, the fun part is you get cross several streams and rivers, some are small and some are quite wide, its a perfect trail for the hot summer. Youll also get to see one of the largest poplar trees in North Georgia.

Required Items to Bring:
Plenty of water. If you have a hiking shoes its better. You want to bring sandals to cross the streams if your hiking shoes are not waterproof. Trekking pole if you have them...if not you can find a walking stick on the trail (Trekking pole is usefull when crossing the streams). Please dont forget to bring lunch.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Ellijay, GA 10:45 am Parking lot at Trail Head. (Please try to park as close to each other, since its a very little parking lot.) From Park & Ride, exit and go back toward Chastain Rd, turn right on to Chastain, turn left on to I-575 North, it will eventually becomes 515, stay on 515, when you see Walmart on right, start looking for Hardees on the left, turn left at the light where Hardees is, go over the creek and turn left at the light, this will take you to Down town Ellijay, Follow the Sign for Fort Mountain State Park, this will take you on to GA-52, go for 5 miles and turn right onto Gates Chapel Road and go 4.6 miles. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 241 (you might see bunch of cars parked near but not on FS 241, take this gravel road for approx 3 miles to trail head. if you cross a river to a parking lot you are at a campsite and not at the trail head parking lot.)
