Itinerary:

OVERVIEW:  The weather is shaping up nicely for this Sunday afternoon, with mostly sunny skies expected and a high of about 50—so how about joining us for a scenic urban dayhike?!
Hahn Woods and its adjoining Lullwater Park are prized by hikers and joggers as "crown jewels" of Emory University's extended campus in NE Atlanta. It's also a popular place for dog lovers.  Up to four well-behaved dogs will be permitted on this hike provided they're leashed and
under their owner's control at all times.
The 185-acre forested nature preserve boasts an extensive trail system that takes visitors from the Hahn Woods parking lot along the banks of the South Fork of Peachtree Creek with its old mill ruins & waterfalls, then over the creek via a nice new 210-foot-long suspension footbridge, past the Emory president's palatial "Lullwater Estate," around beautiful Candler Lake, and back.

WHEN & WHERE?

We’ll gather at 2:30 PM in the Hahn Woods free parking lot at 866 Houston Mill Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30329—see detailed Directions below.

HIKING PLAN:
After introducing ourselves and signing our AOC waiver forms, at about 2:45 we’ll begin the hike on the Hahn Woods creekside loop trail near the cars.  We'll then follow the trail eastward along the South Fork of Peachtree Creek, and continue around the premises and woodlands of Lullwater Estate.  We expect to be back at the cars by about 5:00 PM after venturing across the exciting suspension bridge.  We'll take a leisurely pace, stopping occasionally to regroup and for photo-ops at several scenic spots—about 4 miles total.
