From Winding Stairs Parking Area we will follow yellow blaze to Cheoah Bald 5.1 miles
After we cross road and railroad tracks we will follow trail and yellow blazes to Ledbetter Creek where we will cross creek on bridg. With winter view South across gorge and North flanks of Rattlesnake Knob, climbing in hardwoods.From that poing we will climb steeply. Pass through small gap at end of steep Ford Ledbetter Creek could be deep. Follow creek where we will pass series of chutes and waterfalls. This hike has a lot of elevation gain and it involves water crossings water will be very cold so please be aware of this before you sign up. Don't want anyone to get hyperthomia.

1 lunch, liter of water snack if you want, water shoes we will have to ford a creek

I 85 North to I-985, runs into 365, turns into 411 which runs through Clayton to Franklin N c take Hwy 64 East to Hwy 23?441 thru Dillsboro take Hwy 23/74 then Hwy 74/441 will turn into 19/74 Pass Nantahala Gorge. to FS 422 on left parking on right
