Itinerary:

Come explore majestic Tallulah Gorge's cascading waterfalls and sheer canyon walls as they glimmer in the soft light of a full moon.  Tallulah Gorge is a magnificent canyon two miles long and almost 1000 feet deep.

We will join Tallulah Rangers for a guided hike to the suspension bridge, 80 feet above the gorge floor.  We will take the Hurricane Falls Staircase, which consists of several hundred stairs, in both directions.  Therefore, this event would be unpleasant to those with knee problems or other issues with stairs. The climb out of the gorge will be strenuous.

Important Note:  Tallulah Gorge State Park limits the number of hikers permitted.  Moreover, I cannot reserve spots - each individual hiker must call the Park.  Therefore, after signing up on the AOC list, please contact the Park at (706) 754-7981 to put your name on the list.  At the time I am posting this event, there are sufficient slots available with the Park to meet our needs.  Should the Park list reach capacity before the AOC list does so, we will take only the number of people who were able to properly register with the Park.

There is a $5 fee per person, which is paid to the Park on the date of the hike.  This payment is not made to the AOC.  There is also a $5 per vehicle parking fee, unless you have a State Park parking pass.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $60.80 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:
Please be sure you can attend before signing up, due to the limited number of spots available.
* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
