Itinerary:
Silver Comet - Rockmart to CedartownWe'll ride 28 miles (14 miles each way) from Rockmart to Cedartown. This is a scenic section, taking us along streams, ponds and farmland. It is hillier than most of the trail. Participants should have some recent riding experience and the necessary stamina. We'll meet in downtown Rockmart along the trail, ride to Cedartown and return in about 3 hours. For those interested, we'll stop for lunch at Frankie's Italian Restaurant in Rockmart (208 Church St, near the trailhead, 770-684-1611, Sunday hours 11 to 3).

Features of the ride:
• The Rockmart trailhead, at mile 37.6 includes water, restroom and changing station
• Miles 44 and 45 traverse beautiful forests, farmlands and pastures.
• The boardwalk marsh overlook at mile 45 is a great place to view wildlife and marsh vegetation.
• Mile 46 contains challenging hills and long downhill straight-aways
• Cedartown trailhead and depot, at mile 52, includes restrooms and water. The depot is a replica of an original train station with a Silver Comet Museum/Community room.

For the Rockmart to Cedartown section, see maps 7, 8, 9 at http://www.pathfoundation.org/trails/silver-comet/
