Itinerary:
We'll head to the Cohutta's to ride Bear Creek and Pinhotti aka P1.  Tons of fun and a great ride.  Lots of hills, but the climbing isn't too bad and downhills are a blast.

You should be able to ride 15 miles in two hours.  This is an intermediate pace but the skill level should be advanced as the downhills could hurt an inexperienced rider.

Required Items to Bring:
helmet, water, ride gear, food/snacks, and a bike helps
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:75 North to 575 North which becomes GA515. Follow signs to Ellijay. From the Ellijay town square and follow GA Hwy 52 West for 5 miles and turn right onto Gates Chapel Road. Look for milepost 8 and signs for Bear Creek and Lake Conasauga.

Follow Gates Chapel Road 5 miles to FS Road # 241. It is the bridge over the 2nd stream crossing and a very hard to find (over the shoulder) road. You'll likely see cars with bike racks if you arrive after 9am.  Take FS #241 gravel road up to the lower trailhead, about 1.5 miles and it is a dead-end - pretty obvious.

Or if you want more climbing (and downhill), park on the side of Gates Chapel Road just past FS #241 and ride on up. If you do park on the side of Gates Chapel Road please be considerate of the neighbors that live on this road. They do not want to see you using the bathroom and changing your clothes.

Notes:
We often stop off for food on the way back to the cars.
