Itinerary:
Easy to moderate 8 miles total

Prepare to be amazed by the variety and beauty of several waterfalls within ten miles of each other near Clayton, GA, and be ready to cool off in the water and play around a couple of the waterfalls.

Join Bruce and some friends from his old hiking club-SOA in this very scenic and literally cool hike.From the Marta park and ride lot we will travel about 12 miles to I-985, which bears off to the left and travel to Clayton, GA for a brief stop at the Burger King; and then we will travel to the trailhead, approx. 15 miles distant. We’ll see the spectacular Holcomb Creek Falls, some 125’tall first, then smaller, but beautiful Ammons Creek Falls, then for another mile to an upper falls and wading pool on Holcomb Creek before returning to our cars. Then we travel to the second hike location, where we will hike a couple of miles to Martin Creek Falls on the Bartram trail over rolling terrain.

Good walking shoes
2 liters of water
Trail food
Wading shoes if you like-pool at Holcomb Creek and Martin Creek Falls are shallow and sandbottomed.

NOTE: Bring a change of clothes if you wish to be fresh after the hikes and provision for poison ivy that is usually present this time of year on many trails-pre-protection cream or long pants.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:North Georgia Meet at carpool only The Indian Trail Marta park and ride lot is 3 exits north of I-285 perimeter off of I-85 north (one exit north of Jimmy Carter). Turn left off exit and get in right hand lane to turn into the park and ride. We’ll be on the left of the lot once you enter.

Are Dogs Permitted? NO

Will this event occur rain or shine? Not in thunderstorms or heavy rain.

NOTE: Please be considerate of others. If you sign-up and cannot attend, please e-mail the trip leader, so others that may be on a waiting list may attend.
