Itinerary:
Island Ford is one of the most scenic of our Metro Atlanta hiking areas and offers several miles of nice trails by the "Hooch." This ruggedly beautiful unit of the Chattachoochee River Nat'l Recreation Area (CRNRA) is just south of Roswell and only about a 5-minute drive from the GA-400 Northridge Rd exit (see detailed directions below).

This will be more of a "social hike" so I am listing it as a "D2" going at a slow to moderate pace. Beginners are welcome! We will stay together. If you are looking for a workout hike, this is not the event for you.

We'll begin our hike in the Park Headquarters parking lot then continue along the river where we will branch off to hike up onto the ridge, then hike some of the loops in the park. Estimated distance for this hike is about 3 to 5 miles and we should be back at the cars by about 6:30.

Sunset will be at 6:34 pm, with twilight continuing until about 7:00.

TEAM TRIVIA!  Although this part is purely optional, I encourage everyone to join me after the hike at the North River Tavern which is just around the corner from Island Ford.  We can have refreshments and dinner together, then enjoy a round of Team Trivia which will begin at about 8:00 PM.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:1978 Island Ford Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30350

From the GA-400/ I-285 Interchange in North Atlanta near Sandy Springs:
• Take GA-400 northbound (toward Roswell & Alpharetta) about 5 miles,
• Get off at Exit #6 "Northridge Road," looping around to your right.
• Coming off the exit, stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place.
• Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
• Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.
• We'll meet in the Park Headquarters' visitor parking lot at the end of the entrance road.

From Alpharetta or other points of departure north of Roswell, GA:
• Take GA-400 southbound (toward Atlanta) and get off at Exit #6 "Northridge Road" 
• Bear hard right at the traffic light, looping onto Dunwoody Place.
• Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
• Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.
• We'll meet in the Park Headquarters' visitor parking lot at the end of the entrance road.

$3 parking fee at Island Ford if you do not have annual pass.
