COME CLIMB WITH US!
Climbing at Yonah offers a great hike, solid climbs and decent exposure.

You must be in good physical shape for the hike. The hike is 2 miles one way, 1500 feet in elevation, rated difficult to strenous. You will be carrying a pack with your gear, water and food. There is no water available on top.

Basic Plan for the day: We will meet and greet at the carpool leaving on time at 7:35am (be there early). For those that ride with others in a carpool, make sure you are riding with people that have the same time table as you. We do not have an expected time back for the day.

Once we are at the parking lot Mt. Yonah, we will divy up gear and hike up. Slow hikers are welcomed. The faster hikers who are advanced climbers will help with set-up. :-)

Climbing at Yonah is easy to moderate, the hike up is what is pushing this trip to a difficult rating. Expect routes to be 5.6 and higher, with all exposed and possible multi-pitch routes. After the climb, for those that are interested, we will grab dinner somewhere nearby.

Our climbing philosophy (always subject to change) - have fun and be safe, try your best, work on your technique, challenge yourself and be open to learning something new.

Short version for the day:
Have Fun & Be safe, Hike, Climb, Eat.

NOTE: Beginners and those new to outdoor climbing are welcome. You should have climbing experience (whether indoor or outsdie) Everyone must bring your own harness, shoes, belay device, locking carabiner and helmet. Review the notes section to understand if you are a beginner, advanced or intermediate climber.

Notes:
Wondering if you are novice, intermediate or advanced rock climber? The route ratings are below, if you are climbing outdoors strongly in a particular rating - that is an indicator of your personal climbing status. Being an advanced climber also means you are able to set-up, lead and clean routes. Always try a route, even if you are a beginner. It is how we learn. :-)

Class 5 sub-categories

5.1-5.4 Easy Climbing a steep section that has large hand and foot holds.
5.5-5.8 Intermediate Small foot and handholds. Strength and rock climbing skills required. Low to vertical terrain.
5.9-5.10 Hard Not for beginners. Technical, vertical and may have overhangs. Rock shoes required.
5.11-5.12 Hard to Difficult Not for beginners. Technical, vertical and may have overhangs. Rock shoes required.
5.13-5.15 Very Difficult Not for beginners. Technical, vertical and may have overhangs. Rock shoes required.

To further define a route's difficulty, a subclassification system of letters (a, b, c or d) is used for climbs 5.9 and higher. For instance, a route rated 5.10a is easier than one rated 5.10d. Some guidebooks or climbing gyms use a plus (+) or minus (-) rating instead of the letters.
