Itinerary:
Ok temps are warming up and Spring foliage is returning so I am going to try to squeeze in one last weekday D5, with a little quasi-bushwhacking thrown in.  This is three different hikes in one event, but going to try to get them all in if time allows.

First we will drive to Moccasin Creek State Park and do a 4 mile r/t hike to both Hemlock Falls and Upper Moccason Creek Falls...if it rains the day before as forecast, then should be a good day to be there.  The trail past Hemlock Falls is not maintained, so it is a good bit more challenging, but that bad.  The 2nd waterfall is defnitely worth the effort...very pretty.

From here we will drive to Glade Gap off NC64...not far over the state line.  We will hike on the Chunky Gal trail about 3 miles, and 1500' up to the top of Boteler Peak (5010'). I haven't hiked this section of trail but should be fairly straightforward.   We will enjoy the views from the summit...partially obstructed by a trees. but apparently well worth a visit from recent photos I've seen (thanks Doug L).

From there, it is back down the way we came and driving back into GA...hopefully ending the day at Bell Knob, in Hiawassee, to watch the sunset over Lake Chatuge.  The hike up Bell Knob is less than a mile and gains about 700'.  But is just along a dirt road so very easy as far as terrain goes.

So the total distance for all of these will probably be about 10-12 miles and total elevation gain around 3000+'.....so that would make it a solid D5.  We may not have time to make it to Bell Knob (or may have extra time to squeeze something else in there too), so just be aware that part is somewhat flexible and could go either way.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $93.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
