Itinerary:
This event is for those interested in long distance trail hiking.  We will go clockwise for one loop of the trail.  The goal is a very fast hike and some running.  We'll stay together in small groups of people with similiar pace.  We'll employ the "inch worm" hiking technique of letting the tail catch up to the head from time to time.  We'll collect at gaps, peaks, intersections, stream crossings.

The Coosa Backcountry is a rugged 13 mile loop that originates at Vogel State Park. This is a very strenuous trail with extended climbs and descents. The trail meanders through remote areas. A permit is required from the park office to hike this trail.

The official AOC trip ends with the single loop of the trail at Vogel state park.  The single loop is a D5 level event.

Optionally you may stay and do another loop.  The second loop makes it a D6 event.

Here's a link to the Coosa Backcountry Trail with route and elevation info.
