Itinerary:

OVERVIEW:  Lullwater Park and its adjoining Hahn Woods are prized by hikers and joggers as a "crown jewel" of Emory University's extended campus in NE Atlanta.  The 185-acre forested nature preserve boasts an extensive trail system that takes visitors along the banks of South Fork Peachtree Creek with its old mill ruins & waterfalls, over the creek via a $175,000 210-foot-long suspension footbridge, past the Emory president's "Lullwater Estate" mansion, and around beautiful Candler Lake.  The older creekside trails connect to the more recently developed Hahn Woods nature preserve, adjoining Houston Mill Road.

WHEN & WHERE?
We’ll gather at 6:10 pm in the free parking lot at Emory Child Care Center, 1900 Starvine Way, Atlanta, GA 30322 on Emory Clairmont campus—see detailed Directions below.

HIKING PLAN:   After introducing one another and taking care of signing our AOC waiver forms, we'll begin the hike and take a moderate pace, with occasional stops and photo-ops at scenic spots along the way-about 3 miles total. Well-behaved dogs are welcome provided they're leashed and under their owners' control. We expect to be back at our vehicles about 8:15 PM.

From the "SPAGHETTI JUNCTION" I-85 / I-285 INTERCHANGE in NE Metro Atlanta:

1) Take I-85 South toward Atlanta about 4 miles and exit at Exit #91 "Clairmont Road."

2) Turn Left onto Clairmont Road (US-23 southeastward toward Decatur) and go about 3.2 miles to the traffic light at Starvine Way (less than a quarter mile past the two traffic lights in front of the huge VA Hospital.)

3) Turn Right onto Starvine Way and go 0.4 mile (through Emory's "Clairmont Campus" and a couple of stop signs) to the Child Care Center on your Right. We'll meet in the farthest end of the school's front parking lot beside the steel & stone gate that blocks further passage along Starvine Way-its signs say "Authorized Entry Only."
