Itinerary:
Trip leader has not visited this cave before, so be prepared for the unexpected.

Read Required items list and confirm you will arrive with all before signing up.

Although listed as exploratory D7, it is likely a D4-D5 level trip based on info I have.

Join me on a scouting trip for a new to AOC cave.  We will check out Anderson Spring Cave on Pigeon Mtn.  It is wet, horizontal stream passage and nicely decorated with large formations.  The photos I've seen are outstanding.  Expect to get cold and wet in places including a  crawl in the water with a low ceiling.  The water is a nippy 58 degrees.  There is a moderate 1 mile hike down to the cave and strenuous return with a step uphill back to the vehicles.  The cave has ~ 2 miles of passage.  Expect to be underground for ~ 5 hours or more.  It is reportedly a fairly mazy cave so it may take a little while to learn it and navigate to the places we want to see.  First time cavers are welcome if you are in good fitness, enjoy some discomfort, okay in tight spaces, and confident of ability to complete the trip. Plan to see some really nice formations, dip into chilly water, get a bit muddy, and use some muscles that are not normally exercised.

Required Items to Bring:
Caving Helmet and Waterproof headlamp (Rental helmet and light available)
Spare waterproof light
Spare Batteries in watertight container
Kneepads
Gloves
Polypro or other synthetic clothing, 2 layers.
2 large trash bags
Food for a 8+ hr trip
Drink
Sturdy boots
Small Pack

Come Prepared!  PLEASE DO NOT expect it is okay to join a caving trip without batteries for your lights, without proper clothing, (Np Blue jeans, cotton t-shirts, open-toe shoes, slick sole shoes), or bicycle helmet with duck-taped flashlight.  This is a wild cave, with no rangers, no guides, and no serious medical assistance assistance for many hours. Trip leaders will be glad to answer any questions and advise more on what is needed and where to find it.
