Itinerary:
Moderate to Strenuous 6 miles

We will hike up to Whiteside Mountain and its many beautiful overlooks of fall colors in the surrounding mountains and take pictures from many overlooks. After the last panorama we will go down the small trail to the ‘Devils Courthouse on Whiteside Mtn, with another gorgeous mountain and valley overlook and a nice flat area to take an extended break.
After leaving Whiteside Mountain we travel back to Highlands and a short distance south of town on Hwy. 106, on the left is the road to our second trailhead to 3 waterfalls of Overflow Creek. The trail descends steeply to the three waterfalls on the west fork of Overflow Creek. Then we will ascend the steep trail back to the parking lot where the trail up to Chinquapin Mtn. With its overlook to surrounding Mountains, including Whiteside where we were earlier.
There will be an optional dinner for those who care to at a nice Chinese restaurant in Clayton, GA, with an extensive and very good all you can eat buffet.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Highlands, NC Meet at park and ride lot From the park and ride lot we will travel north on I-85 for about 12 miles until I-985 bears off to the left and follow this to Clayton, GA where we will stop briefly at McDonalds, for a restroom, breakfast break, before traveling further up Hwy 441 North. Just north of Dillard, GA, we will turn onto Hwy 246-106 towards Highlands, NC and about five miles east of Highlands on Hwy. 64 to the first trailhead at Whiteside Mountain.

Are Dogs Permitted? No.

Will this event occur rain or shine? No, not if heavy thunderstorms or winter weather are forecast.

NOTE: Please be considerate of others. If you sign-up and cannot attend, please e-mail the trip leader, so others that may be on a waiting list may attend.
