Itinerary:
There has been a lot of interest in the indoor climbing events, so we're going to start offering this weekly as long as interest stays high.

Where?

Stone SummitStone Summit (http://www.ssclimbing.com) is the nation's largest indoor climbing gym. Whether you are a beginner or a world class athlete, they have a climb for you. Stone Summit has walls extending 25 feet to 60 feet high to challenge both your strength and mind, and a bouldering room that will not bore even the most fanatical gym rats. New routes go up on a weekly basis. In addition to climbing, yoga, and spin, Stone Summit also has a fitness center, consisting of cardio equipment, circuit training, and free weights. Whether you want a good cardio exercise or to be the next Arnold, they have all the top-of-the-line equipment to get you there.

How Much?
See Cost information near the end of the trip description. While the AOC will NOT be collecting any money for this event, you will still need to pay the gym.

Important - Belay Certification
Stone Summit requires the belayer to demonstrate the following:
• Proper use of the harness – doubling back and checking harness on climber
• Ability to tie in using Figure – 8 follow-through knot with additional safety knot through waist belt and leg loops.
• Proper use of commands between belayer and climber
• Proper set-up of belay device and locking carabiner
• Belaying without dropping/letting go of the brake hand
• Switching between belaying and lowering without compromising the brake hand
• When lowering, brake hand must not go above 3 o’clock position
• Ability to safely catch 4 falls

Event Duration
Do we really plan to climb for three hours straight? Maybe :-) Also, trying to get to the gym by 6pm in Atlanta traffic is not an easy feat if you're across town. So, the time frame for this event is a lot more flexible than other events. If you can't make it by 6, no biggie, just show up when you can. And if you "flame out" after an hour or two, that's ok! Feel free to hang out; part of the fun of climbing is hanging out with everyone, swapping stories and giving encouragement (or heckling) to your friends as they climb. They are open until 10pm, so if you want to close the place down—by all means, be our guest :-)

As always, do remove yourself from the event if you can't make it. If it's last minute, be sure to email the trip leaders to let us know.

If any member wants to buy a Stone Summit membership package, they will give us a 10% discount.

Required Items to Bring:
You can rent all the equipment (it's included in the price), or bring your own. REI sells a kit by Black Diamond that includes everything but the shoes for $99. See Recommended Items for basic indoor climbing gear.		Recommended Items to Bring:

It's nice to own your own, but again, you can use the gym's gear for free.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Since this is in town, there will be no carpool for the event. If you see other members living in your area on the list, by all means, please try to carpool.

Directions

From 285
  1. Exit Chamblee Tucker Road (off 285) and follow Chamblee Tucker Road inside of the Perimeter.
  2. Turn right on Buckeye Road which turns into Presidential Parkway.
  3. Go approximately ½ mile and Stone Summit is on your left.

From Atlanta

  1. Take I-85 North.
  2. Exit Chamblee Tucker Road.
  3. Turn right on Chamblee Tucker Road.
  4. Go to 1st traffic light and turn left on Presidential Parkway.
  5. Go approximately ½ mile and Stone Summit is on your right.

From I-85 (North of 285)

  1. Take I-85 South.
  2. Exit Chamblee Tucker Road.
  3. Turn left on Chamblee Tucker Road and go to 2nd traffic light and turn left on Presidential Parkway.
  4. Go approximately ½ mile and Stone Summit is on your right.

Notes:
* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.

Cost Includes:We will not collect any money. Just pay the cashier.

Climb Only (no staff assistance): $6.00 (tax included) ... and that includes any rental gear needed!!!
