Itinerary:
Please join me for a leisurely hike through the Nature Trail at Stone Mountain Park..followed by a trip up the famous walk up trail for what we can hope will be a fantastic sunset from the summit.

We will start the hike off on the Nature Trail it is a short but scenic wooded trail with great trees and streams that, added with the breeze that I am hoping we will get tomorrow, will cool us off just enough before ascending to the summit.  I will be keeping a pretty leisurely pace for both.  Feel free to take pictures and move at your own pace for the most part during this trip especially once we get to the walk up trail. The sunset is at 8:42 so this should give us plenty of time to reach the summit even at a slow pace that the high temps will surely dictate.

If we have time when we reach the summit we can cross down on the east side of the mountain if everyone is up for it. Or we can play it by ear as to what the group prefers.

Currently the forecast shows only a slight chance of showers so I am going ahead with this listing. However if the percentage changes drastically overnight I will update this event. As Stone Mountain is VERY slick when wet and i would not want to endanger any club members or myself :)

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow evening.

Required Items to Bring:

It will be very HOT tomorrow so please bring adequate water for this trip
Apply sunscreen or bring whatever protective hats or clothing you feel you need.

After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile - stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile to the Confederate Hall parking lot which will be on your left. We'll meet (at 6:15 p.m.) in front of the Whistle Stop Station restroom area, which is just beyond the parking lot.

Drive a mile or so, past a gas station and a funeral parlor (both on your right). When you see City Hall turn left. There is a Marta park-and-ride between 4th and 5th streets. From there it is a short walk on East Mountain Street. Enter the park through the gate, and cross the parking lot to the restroom area where we'll be meeting.
