This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Opened in April 2011, Jackrabbit is a nearly 15 mile trail system located along Lake Chatuge in the Nantahala Forest in Hayesville, NC (just N of Hiawassee, GA).  It's a fast, flowy and fun singletrack trail with something for everyone.   There's also a swimming area on the lake, so bring your swimsuit!

We'll ride at a moderate pace.  However, riders should have some riding experience.

We'll plan on being ready to ride at 10:00.   Afterwards, we'll have lunch near the lake then go for a swim before heading back about 2:00 or so.

Comparable trails include FATS near Augusta and Blankets Creek near Woodstock.

• Mountain Bike - A regular mountain bike is recommended, with or without full suspension.
• Helmet
• Water
• Spare Tire Tube

• Trail Snacks, lunch and cold drinks
• Portable Air Pump to carry on your bike
• Bicycle "Multi-Tool" (+ adjustable Wrench if needed to remove wheel) 
• Tire Levers (2 or 3) for replacing a damaged tube
• Tube-Patching Kit in case you have more than 1 flat, pinhole flat, etc. 
Swim suit, sun screen, chair, etc for the lake

4. Continue onto GA-115 N/Cleveland Hwy/Dahlonega Hwy 10.4 mi
5. Turn left onto Wilford Ash Sr Pkwy 0.4 mi
6. Continue onto GA-75 N 10.8 mi
7. Turn left onto GA-17 N/GA-75 N/Unicoi Turnpike 15.9 mi
8. Turn left onto GA-17 N/GA-2 W/GA-75 N/US-76 W 3.2 mi
9. Turn right onto GA-75 N/Bell Creek Rd (Enter NC) 3.5 mi
10. Continue onto NC175 N 0.7 mi -

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $72.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
