Itinerary:
Azalea Park to Morgan Falls Paddle out and back:

We'll start at Roswell's Azalea Park and paddle down to Morgan Falls Dam, stop for a walk along the dam, and head back. Along the way we'll be passing the very picturesque rocky outcrops of Cedar Cliffs, as well as, a few little side creeks and areas we may be able to explore depending conditions.  Small coolers with adult beverages for are welcomed/suggested (no glass).

This is a flat water section of the Chattahoochee with no rapids or shoals to contend with which will allow us to paddle back to our starting location. The overall paddling distance is 7-8 miles total based on our route and explorations.

The event is intended only for those who have their own equipment. You must supply your own kayak or canoe (no inflatables), paddle, and coast guard approved PFD (personal flotation device).

Please be aware, this trip is contingent on favorable water release schedules for Buford Dam which are not available until a day prior.  If there are water releases scheduled we may need to shift the time to avoid paddling against strong currents on the return trip.  We will make every attempt to start on time.  I'll check the release schedule and send out an email the day prior with details.

Personal Preparedness and Responsibility:

  • There will be no paddling instruction or training.  All attendees are expected to be somewhat competant paddlers.
  • All attendees are encouraged to wear a life jacket (pfd).
