Itinerary:
Easy to Moderate

From the parking lot we will walk 0.7 miles to Confederate Hall inside the park. From there we will climb Stone Mountain (water available at the summit) and descend to Cherokee trail, a total of about 2 miles. We will walk the Cherokee trail counterclockwise. After approximately 4 miles on the Cherokee trail we will stop for a picnic lunch in the Crossroads area at about 1:00, and then walk 2 miles back to our cars.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Stone Mountain, GA 9:15 at the public (and free) parking area at the intersection of Main St. and Second St. in Stone Mountain Village. Proceed on Druid Hills to US 78 East (Stone Mountain Freeway). Continue east on US 78. Merge onto GA 10 W/ Stone Mountain via Exit 5. Proceed 0.5 miles on GA 10 to the first exit. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so, past a gas station and a funeral parlor (both on your right). The parking lot will be on your left, about 0.1 miles past City Hall (which will be on your right).

Notes:

Are Dogs Permitted? No.

Will this event occur rain or shine? Yes, but we will not climb Stone Mountain. We may do the nature trail instead.

NOTE: Please be considerate of others. If you sign-up and cannot attend, please e-mail the trip leader, so others that may be on a waiting list may attend.
