Itinerary:
This is great for day-hikers with only a little experience This track gives you 5.9 miles of the Appalachian trail, followed by a .6-mile walk down a dirt road to the lake from Jarrard Gap.  Trail runners are welcome!  Some have done this hike in 5 hours, including a short lunch break. The route involves about 2000' of vertical ascent/descent.  We will allow for 8 hours to ease the pace and allow for time at the lake.  Of course everyone is welcome to hike at their own pace!   
     On the way back we can stop at the top of Big Cedar Mountain for a break, after a long ascent.  From here it is only 1.2 miles back to our cars at Woody Gap.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Directions will be provided at park and ride and also I will send directions in an email the day before.  I would like everyone to stay together during the drive Woody Gap.  We will stop in Dahlonega for a restroom break.  I would like for everyone to stay together during the ride unless you know exactly where you are going.  I will also have directions though.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $52.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
