This is the second of two hikes scheduled for the weekend of September 17-18, near Hendersonville, North Carolina. Each hike will be posted separately, and you may register for either or both. You may elect to stay overnight in North Carolina (at the lodging of your choice) or return to Atlanta the same day.

This hike highlights Bridal Veil Falls (also featured in The Last Of The Mohicans), Lake Julia and Fawn Lake. At 6.3 miles and only 900 feet in elevation gain, this hike should be a nice complement to the harder Five Falls Loop we will complete on Saturday. (Of course, you are welcome to register for this hike even if you don't join us on Saturday's hike).

We should finish the hike in time to have a nice lunch and return to Atlanta by late afternoon or early evening.

Note: The concept for these two weekend hikes is to provide participants with multiple options. Your TLs plan to leave Atlanta on Friday night and return to Atlanta on Sunday afternoon. However, you may also make either hike a one day event. For example, you may leave Atlanta on Sunday morning and return Sunday night. Following registration for these events, we will circulate an email to assist in crystallizing carpool arrangements based upon your chosen departure date.

Disclosure: Your TLs, who enjoy exploring new places (to them, anyway) have not hiked these trails. Therefore, please have a sense of adventure and be in sufficient physical condition to hike extra mileage if we miss a turn somewhere. It is our understanding that the trails are well-marked, and we will have maps in hand.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $136.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

It is anticipated there will be one or two carpools, depending on the preferences of our participants: one on Friday night and one on Saturday morning. Once we determine the preferences of the group, we will update this information. As previously noted, your TLs plan to drive to N.C. on Fraiday night. Anyone preferring to leave Sunday morning may do so.

For those who request it, I am happy to share the information I have gathered on places to stay near the trailhead. Finally, anyone wishing to join only the Sunday hike is welcomed to do so, but carpooling options may be more limited. We will update this information after registration.
