Itinerary:
1:00 PM TUE SPECIAL NOTE from CHARLIE:  We're still ON for the hike despite the lingering intermittent drizzle from tropical depression "Lee."
  We'll gather for the hike at 5:30 PM in the "Paces Mill" CRNRA parking lot off US-41 about a mile south of Cumberland Mall - see detailed directions below (and "destination Lat/Lon" for use with GPS).
  Our 4-mile loop will follow several scenic trails on the West side of the river in the Palisades unit of the Chattahoochee River NRA (just inside I-285).
  About two miles of our route will be via paved trails or sidewalks including the Rottenwood Creek Trail (a.k.a. "Bob Callan Trail") similar to the Silver Comet.

Water and good comfortable Walking Shoes or Hiking Boots

How to Get There:
Event Directions:WE'LL MEET FOR THE HIKE in the far end of the large CRNRA "Paces Mill" parking lot (near the restroom building - detailed directions below).  If you use GPS navigation or Google Maps, the following Lat/Lon coordinates may be useful as your entered destination: 33.8706,-84.4534
Each driver is responsible for paying your $3 parking fee in a self-serve envelope and displaying the numbered receipt on your rear-view mirror 
(unless you display a valid annual Nat'l Parks pass).

FROM DOWNTOWN or MIDTOWN ATLANTA:
1. Take I-75 North to Exit #256, "Mt. Paran Rd."
2. At the end of the ramp turn Left onto Mt. Paran Road, then take an immediate Right at the next traffic light onto US-41/Cobb Parkway.
3. Take US-41 North about 1 mile and look for the brown "Chattahoochee River Nat'l Rec. Area" sign on your left just beyond the River bridge.
4. Turn Left at the sign, bear left under the bridge and meet us in the far end of the parking lot.


FROM the I-75/ I-285 INTERCHANGE in NW ATLANTA:
1. Take I-75 South and exit immediately toward your Right at "Cumberland Parkway."
2. Turn Right onto Cumberland Pkway and go about 0.3 mile to the traffic light at US-41.
3.  Turn Left onto US-41, go only about 0.4 mile (just beyond the traffic light at Paces Mill Rd) and look for the brown "Chattahoochee River Nat'l Rec. Area" sign on your right before the River bridge.
4. Turn Right at the sign, bear left under the bridge and meet us in the far end of the parking lot.


Notes:
Sunset in Atlanta will be at 7:57 pm on Sep 6. Twilight will end at about 8:30 pm but the waxing gibbous moon may provide some extra evening light after dark.
