Strenuous due to steep elevation gain and distance 11 miles Section 3 (5.7 miles) and Section 4 (5.3 miles)

We will start at the trailhead and follow the White Diamond for the Benton MacKaye Trail. Section 3 of the BMT is the steepest stretch in feet gained, or lost per mile. From Skeenah Creek we will climb Wallalah Mountain (3100 Feet) then dips to (2730 feet), then head up again on Licklog Mountain (3470 feet) then down a few hundred feet and then back up about (100 feet). Then back down to (2380 feet) where section 3 ends. Section 4 starts across the road, (where we will have lunch) at (2400 feet) and easy elevation gains and downhill. When we reach mile 1 we will start to climb at mile 1.5 we will have gained to elevation (2800 feet) where we will again go down and climb until we get to mile 3 where we will again climb to ((3000 feet). From there we will go down from ( 3000 feet to 2600 feet) and then start to climb again to (2680 feet) .From there we will have short ups and downs to the end at Wilscot Gap and Ga 60

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Highway 60 at Skeenah Gap 9:30 at Marathon Station at corner of Hwy 515 and Hwy 60 Travel I-595 North to Hwy 60 Right thru Morganton to Wilscot Gap. Where we will set up shuttle and then proceed to Little Skeenah Creek and trailhead.
