Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:
Join me for a stroll of a section of the Foothills Trail that I have not done yet....  Be a little adeventurous.

The plan is to leave the carpool location around 7:30am on Saturday. It will take 2.5 hours to drive to the Sloan Bridge trailhead where we will then load up our packs and begin a 3 mile trek  to camp at the Round Mountain gap.   We'll set up camp, gather some wood, eat lunch, and the leave our site for a day hike which includes a 4 mile loop down Round Mountain Trail to Upper Whitewater falls where we'll join back up with the Foothills trail and head back to camp.... but not before we spend some  time checking out the stunning views of the  Upper Whiterwater falls and some grewat vistas of lake Jocassee.

When we get back to camp we'll get a fire roaring, eat dinner,  swap stories, and I'll even break out my new backpacking guitar that Melanie got me for my birthday.

Sunday, we can take our leisurely time getting up and moving out since we've only got 3 miles back to the trailhead to drive home.

Note 1:  There are several camps and water sources indicated in this area.   It's unlikely, but these sources may be dry here so it would be wise to pack an empty nalgene to fill at the upper falls during our day hike and bring back to camp.

Note 2: Though this event is listed as 'no dogs', there will be 3 dogs on this trip.
