Easy to moderate Hike 6 miles

Note: My hikes are leisure speed at 2 to 2.5 miles an hour....with plenty of breaks for water and snacks....if you are fast hiker and wants to hike fast, this may not be the hike for you.

Good News!!! Finally, the Helen Trail has re-opened since the hurricane damage. I have had a great time on this trail. Half way point being in Helen we will be spending about an hour (we can decide the length based on time and speed of the group) we can pack lunch or have lunch at one of the restaurants. The trail partially goes along Smith Creek, with minimal elevation gain (This hike is beginner friendly too).

Required Items to Bring:
Plenty of water, some snacks and lunch. If you have a hiking shoes, wear them. Trekking poles are good too if you have them. Rain gear incase of unexpected rain. 		Recommended Items to Bring:

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Helen, GA 30545; 706-878-3983 11:00 am Parking lot at Unicoi State Park Lodge From Park & Ride, go North on GA-400 until it ends, go straight on to 115, follow 115 to Cleveland, turn right on to 75 (youll see Ingles shopping center as you turn), go through Helen, go 1 mile North on GA-17/75 and turn right on GA-356, approx. 1.5 miles to Unicoi State Park, follow the sign to lodge (after we re-grouped well drive to trail head).

Are Dogs Permitted? No.

Will This Event Occur Rain or Shine? No. No hiking in the rain.

NOTE: Please be considerate of others. If you sign-up and cannot attend, please e-mail the event leader, so others that may be on a waiting list may attend. E-mail the leader to be put on a waiting list if the event is at the max number of attendees.
