Itinerary:

The 195 acre Jones Bridge park is named after the private toll bridge built in 1904, which for nearly 20 years spanned the Chattahoochee river in this area. Half of the bridge located at the east end of the park was stolen in 1940, and it remains this way up to date.

This trail rolls the opposite way of the bridge along the river for about two miles, then enters the woods, where we can choose between a number of intersecting trails.  In general, the trails are flat with some relatively easy uphill climbs, nothing with over a 150 foot elevation gain. We will hike at a moderate pace and try to complete the 5 miles length in 2 hours, at twilight time.  Deer are common in this park and back to the river, you can sometimes see its special guest, the heron.

We'll meet in the parking lot at the very end of the entrance road.  Restrooms are available.

There is a $3 parking fee if you don't have an annual pass.  Also note that there are two entrances to the park.  The first is usually gated.  The second entrance, further north on Barnwell Road, is where we will meet.  More detailed directions are provided below.

Dogs are welcome, but in accordance with park rules, they must be on a leash no more than 6 feet in length and under the owners physical restraint at all times.
