Snail Shell, Finally, we are going to attempt this amazing cave. Snail Shell, purchased by the SCCI, is the longest continuous cave in the Tennesee Central Basin. Located near Murpheesboro, there are over nine miles of surveyed passages in this cold and wet cave. As listed in the title, this is also a camping weekend. We have been given the opportunity to camp at Caver's Paradise, which is only ten miles from Bible Springs, for Saturday night. They have hot showers, an outdoor hot tub (wood burning), and will have bon-fires. I can't see how this would not be an amazing fit for our weekend. Snail Shell Cavers will be about an 1:20 minutes away (estimate). Saturday's Participants will have first preference to this trip. Sunday only cavers are welcome to join us for camping!! ***This is not a cave for beginners. It requires specialized equipment (wet-suit and life-jacket) that must be purchased or rented ahead of time. As a D6 event, I must require that everyone have plenty of caving experience, and must be a stong swimmer. This cave will be wet and you will be swimming, there is always a potential for hypothermia and drowning. This risk is minimized with proper gear and having experience inside wet caves. AOC will not be supplying Helmets or gear of any type for this adventure, so please don't ask. To maximize group safety I will be contacting everyone that signs up.*** ***No members will be allowed in the cave without a proper wet-suit and personal-flotation-device, PERIOD.*** I hope with enough time to prepare that I can fill this trip to the maximum.
