Itinerary:
This is a ten mile hike starting at a trailhead in the Tributary subdivision in Douglasville.  It will be a "lollipop loop."

The first two and a half miles (the stick of the lollipop) will take us thru the woods to Sweetwater Creek on a nice trail maintained by the subdivision.  Then we enter the Sweetwater Creek State Park and follow the White Trail to the visitor's center.  (Yes, ladies, the visitors center has bathrooms.)  Next we go back down the creek on the History Trail (red), to the factory ruins, where we will have a creekside lunch.  Then we continue down the creek back to where we came into the park to complete the top of the lollipop.  That loop is five miles total. Then we go back out on the two and a half mile trail we came in on.

This hike will have some strenuous sections, but nothing major.  Some of the footing along the creek will be rocky, but it will be worth it, as the creek is very scenic.  We will also see some exhibits at the visitors center, and see the ruins of the textile factory which was run totally by hydro power - what today we would call alternative energy.  It was destroyed by Sherman's army in the war and the female mill workers were deported to the North.
