Itinerary:
How about a nice evening sunset hike to kick off November, stretch the legs, get some exercise, and then relax and watch the sun set? Join us tonight for a hike up Stone Mountain! We will be beginning the hike at the Confederate Center (near the restrooms). We will hike at a moderate pace, to ensure we get to the top before sunset, which is at 6:44. At the top of the mountain, we will hang out for awhile, take pics, and enjoy the scenic view of the sunset from the top. What a great way to spend the evening! We will be walking down a trail through the woods, and it will be mostly dark, so please bring a small LED flashlight or headlamp to avoid tripping.  The weather will be 62 degrees at 6PM with sunny skies, and will be about 57 degrees when we finish, so dress to your level of comfort for those temperatures.

HIKE WILL START FROM CONFEDERATE HALL PARKING LOT AT 6:00 pm sharp. PLEASE BE THERE AT LEAST 5 MINUTES EARLY FOR SIGN UP AND INTRODUCTION.

I will also be doing an optional nature trail hike beforehand for anyone who wants to go.  It will start at 5PM from the Confederate Center. Please let me know if you plan to do this portion, so I know how many to expect.


We can grab something to eat afterwards for those who wish to do so.

Free parking is avaialable at MARTA PARK n RIDE parking lot. It is less than a half mile walk to the park and the entrance is near our meeting area.

Please take the time to look at the park map and parking options in order to be on time!

Directions To Confederate Hall Parking Lot:

To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile - stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. Confederate Hall will be on your left. (Careful - there's a stop sign in front of Confederate Hall for those entering the West Gate.) The parking lot will be immediately after. Wait for the group near the walk up trail.


MARTA PARK & RIDE LOT
Free public parking in Stone Mountain Village

From Hwy 78 take exit 5 - stay right for a half mile - then a quick exit to E. Ponce/Stone Mtn. Village. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so into town. Turn left on East Mountain. Turn right on Fourth Street. There you will find the MARTA park and ride.


Notes:
The parking fee inside the park is $10 unless you have annual pass.
