Itinerary:
Let's hike Pine Mountain before sunset and enjoy the fall colors!  Our approximately 5-mile trek will cover the east and west trails with a jaunt up to the spectacular summit overlook.  We will meet at the west trail parking lot.

Sunset is at 5:39pm and though we will be enjoying an almost full moon, you will definitely need a headlamp or flashlight.

If there's any interest after the hike, we can watch the KSU Jazz Ensemble play at the Trackside Grill in downtown Kennesaw.  The performance starts at 7:30pm.  Trackside is a restaurant that serves yummy southern fare (and crab cakes on the weekends) and has a nicely sized restaurant/bar area.  In the past, they've held live music at the rooftop bar, but I'm not sure where it is held during the colder months.  Either way, it should be a good time.  Directions are listed below:

Traveling on I-75 going South:
Take a right onto Chastain Rd. Take a right onto Old 41. Restaurant is located on the right (2840 S. Main St.) parallel to the RR tracks, before the traffic light in Historic Kennesaw.
*Distance from 75 is less than 3 miles.

Notes:
Pine Mountain Recreation Area is owned and maintained by the City of Cartersville Parks and Recreation Department and the trail is rated moderate to difficult.  Acquired from a private donation, this land is part of 13,000 acres that was the original site of Mark Anthony Cooper's Iron Empire. The highest point in Cartersville is reached at the summit of 1562 feet above mean sea level and has views of Lake Allatoona, the Etowah River Valley, Red Top Mountain State Park, and Plant Bowen.
