Itinerary: |
(photo is on Van Michael trail along Lake Allatoona)
OVERVIEW: Blankets Creek is a "bike-only" trail system of 4 independent loops of about 15 miles total, with many great views of Lake Allatoona. The trails alternative direction daily, so that all riders are going in the same direction.
We'll plan on getting started 15 minutes after the meet time. Starting with a 1 mile beginner trail as warm up on our way to the 4 mile intermediate Dwelling Loop, the second trail will be the 4.2 mile South Loop that's rated advanced & technical making it a slow section, then head over to the 3.9 mile Van Michael advanced loop for a lot of heart pounding climbing plus some fun & fast at times downhills. Our pace will be as fast as our bodies will take us, we'll ride a minimum of 12 miles, thus the D5 rating. Mt. biking experience is a must, we'll stop at trail heads to get the group together for the next loop & where need be, not wanting to get to strung out. We can add some miles, if daylight & any of the group would like to do another loop.
We can head over to a local pub for a beer & food afterward.
For a TRAIL MAP, click on the links below for trail maps: Blankets Creek In case of cancellation or postponement due to rain or freezing conditions (plus trail closures due to recent rain), I'll send an E-mail by 10:00 the prior evening.
