Itinerary:
Easy to Moderate

With the camping season kicking into high gear, I thought it would be nice to visit this beautiful park only an hour south of Atlanta.

Located near Callaway Gardens and the town of Warm Springs, Georgias largest state park is deeply rooted in the historical era of the four-time President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

It will be traditional pioneer camping this month. We will arrive Friday night, setup camp, cook our evening meal and relax around the fire. Saturday, it is breakfast, a moderate hike through the park, a picnic lunch and then a swim (weather permitting) at Liberty Bell Pool (Opened in 1940, it is one of the worlds largest rock, spring fed pools). Later, we will again cook a gourmet meal and relax around the fire. For those interested, we will attend An Evening Of Astronomy at the park office amphitheater (view the night sky and learn the location of famous constellations and planets). Sunday, it is breakfast and pack for home.

NOTE: In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, the AOC will no longer use styrofoam plates or plastic cups. We will recycle all plastics, bottles and cans during our events. Further, the AOC will provide everyone reusable plates, bowls, etc. We ask for everyone to bring their own drinking CUP and UTENSILS (fork, spoon, knife) to wash & reuse during the event.
