SURF AND TURF 2012!!!

Come and join us as we celebrate the 6th Annual weekend adventure at Eagle Ranch, located in the beautiful mountains of Copperhill, Tennessee. Once again the good folks at Eagle Ranch will be our hosts as well as serving as our outfitter for our white water rafting adventure on Saturday.

On Friday, the fun begins as soon as you arrive at Eagle Ranch. You may arrive anytime after 2pm. The pavilion, a large outdoor fire circle, and the surrounding areas will be ours to enjoy as we get our weekend started.

Dinner will be at 8 pm. Afterwards, we'll do some brief introduction will take place campfire style on Friday night. Just say a little something about yourself. Interpretive dance or dramatic poetry will be optional.

On Saturday, we'll begin with a hearty breakfast and then directly after we'll meet back at the Pavilion at 10:30 am for a short safety talk before we are shuttled off to "ride the rapids" and " SURF " the Ocoee River. The Ocoee is world-famous and it offers continuous Class III-IV action. Woohoo! Once we arrive back at Eagle Ranch, lunch will be ready and you'll have some down time to take in some " TURF ". Lots of things to do: hiking trails, volleyball, horse shoes, and road/mountain biking trails in the immediate area. Bring your own bikes though if you want to ride. Other suggestions would be to bring frisbee, a football, cards, etc. Just remember Eagle Ranch has a total of 120 acres to be explored, the options are limitless.

Tradition has it that we take a night hike up to Ice Mountain, which is approx. 2 miles roundtrip and located on the property. It's optional, but always a popular activity. Don't forget those headlamps! There's some good star gazing up there as well if the night is clear.

For those of us that survive the night hike, we will make our way to a possible bond fire to end our last night with stories and laughter before heading off to bed.

On Sunday, we'll have a nice breakfast before packing up and heading back to the real world.

Sleeping arrangements:

You will have a choice of either staying in the bunk houses or pitching a tent.

The bunk houses are located approximately 300 feet from the pavilion and fire circle area.  They fit anywhere between 6 to 10 people.  You are provided a bunk with mattresses and would need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow and whatever else you need to make yourself comfy.

You are also welcome to bring your own tent and set up in the field if you want to feel a little more rustic.  The tent camping area is very spacious and open. Basically, it's a great big field with plenty of room to spread out.

There are also bath houses with restrooms on site for your convenience.

There will be absolutely no smoking under the pavilion or inside the building. This is a common area where we cook, eat and congregate and the majority is non-smoking. We would appreciate your cooperation in this matter. This rule will also be in effect around campfire circles, bonfire circle on Saturday night, in the bunkhouses and the bathhouses. If you choose to smoke, please follow Leave No Trace. Your Trip Leaders reserve the right to take action if these guidelines are not followed.
