Itinerary:

Take a break from work and get outside! Join me at Island Ford as we enjoy the warmer temps and sunny weather.

We will meet in front of the Park Headquarters / Visitor Contact Station at 12:30pm.  There are restrooms available.  We will begin our hike shortly thereafter, making our way on the various trails along the Chattahoochee. 

There will be a few hills, but nothing too strenuous.  I plan to keep the pace moderate though.   

We'll stop to admire the views along the way and will have time to photograph and appreciate the Chattahoochee as well as the wildlife.  There are usually geese, ducks, and maybe a hawk and/or heron to see.

We will also venture into the woods a bit taking in the scenery as we make our way through the area.  We should return to the Visitor Contact Station around 2:30pm.

Required Items to Bring:

$3 for parking fee, good, comfortable hiking shoes or boots, lots of water to drink and stay hydrated, snacks, smile!

Directions: Follow directions below, and then drive to the end of Island Ford Parkway where the Park Headquarters / Visitor Contact Station is located.

From I-285

  • Take exit 27 GA 400 North
  • North 5 miles to exit 6, Northridge Road.
  • Turn right and cross over GA 400 then right onto Dunwoody Place.
  • Go .5 miles and right onto Roberts Drive.
  • Go .7 mile on Robert's Drive and right onto Island Ford Parkway, park entrance.

From GA 400 North

  • Take exit 6, Northridge Road.
  • Stay in the middle lane and go straight through light to Dunwoody Place
  • Go .5 miles to Roberts Drive turn right.
  • Go .7miles on Roberts Drive, park entrance will be on your right (Island Ford Parkway).

From GA 400 South

  • Take exit 6, Northridge Road.
  • Stay in right lane and cross over GA 400. Turn right onto Dunwoody Place.
  • Go .5 miles to Roberts Drive turn right.
  • Go .7 miles on Roberts Drive, park entrance will be on your right (Island Ford Parkway).
