Itinerary:
Ok I have been wanting to do this hike for awhile, so going to try to squeeze it in this week and hope the weather cooperates.  I have to give the credit for this idea to fellow Trip Leader Doug L (and future AOC TL Dorothea) for dreaming up this hike and figuring it out.  Doug led this one back in August and hopefully he will do it again at some point as well.

We will hike from the trailhead, which is a small parking area off a neighborhood street, just west of Courthouse Gap.  We will walk from there to the gap and then jump on the Bartram Trail, headed south.  We have a steep side trail to get to the top of Pinnacle Peak which will be our first overlook of the day.

From the top of Pinnacle, we should be able to see our next destination... Rock Mtn (pic by Doug)...

After taking some time to soak in this view, we will get back on the Bartram Trail and head north about 4 miles and then off the trail for a fairly easy bushwhack 1/2 mile up to the top of Rock Mtn, where we will enjoy the view at another rocky outcrop.

From here we will head back and to our cars.  At 10 miles and 2600 feet of elevation gain this will be a strenuous hike. We will be hiking at a moderate pace (by common D5 standards). Faster hikers can go ahead to Pinnacle Peak and on the return trip but we will stay together while going to Rock Mountain so nobody misses the unmarked turn to Rock Mountain.

We may also make a stop before the hike to check out Martin Creek Falls.  This is off the Bartram but we can access it from a short hike (less than half a mile) off of Forney Creek Road.  However, not sure if that will be open as it is a gated entrance to the WMA, so don't count on this.

And after the hike if the timing is right, we may drive 11 miles to the Sky Valley overlook to watch the sunset.  But depends on weather conditions and what time we finish.

NOTE:  Because this a D5 event, if you have not very recently completed some tough AOC hikes, I will be contacting you to determine your level of fitness and experience to make sure this is the right hike for you.
