Itinerary:
CHATTANOON HIKE # 9

The ChattaNoon Hikes are very suitable for Newbies and Beginners. Why? We are not planning to set new speed records. If we not quite hike 5 miles, at a little slower pace, that's OK too. We'll get our heart rates up though. We may even sweat a bit, but you won't need a shower before going back to work. All ten hikes will be at different places at the Chattahoochee NRA, beginning at Noon. Ah, that's why they are called ChattaNoon Hikes. Please be on time, because we will leave on time ... some need to get back to work.

Come and join me on the trails, starting and ending, at the Akers Drive Entrance (West Palisades) - Unit of the Chattahoochee NRA. We will hike about five miles of the trails including sections along the river as well as in the woods, first to "Devil's Race", looping back to the Rottenwood Creek, taking a short excursion back down to the river for the unit's most dramatic section. Here the river is surrounded by steep rock faces, and runs through rocky shoals and small islands of dense vegetation, we then hike back our cars.
Note: One part of our hike is a bit steeper than what we normally hike. It may require some easy scrambling.

This is a rain, shine, or snow hike (except under extreme thunder storm warning).

If you have any questions e-mail the Event Coordinator.
