We will be hiking the Approach Trail going to the top of Stone Mountain from Confederate Hall parking lot and back. This is a casual and social hike up the mountain, so you can choose your own pace. At the top of the mountain, we will hang out for awhile, take pics, and enjoy the scenic view from the top. What better way to to end a weekend and enjoy the surrounding area & scenic view with AOC friends!
From Confederate Hall parking lot starting point to the top and back is about 2 miles.
HIKE WILL START FROM CONFEDERATE HALL PARKING LOT AT 5:30 pm. PLEASE BE THERE 10 MINUTES EARLY FOR SIGN UP AND INTRODUCTION.
Free parking is avaialable at MARTA PARK n RIDE parking lot. It is less than a half mile walk to the park and the entrance is near our meeting area. Please take the time to look at the park map and parking options in order to be on time!

- Warm jacket, hat, and gloves - if needed

MEETING POINT
Directions To Confederate Hall Parking Lot:
To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile - stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. Confederate Hall will be on your left. (Careful - there's a stop sign in front of Confederate Hall for those entering the West Gate.) The parking lot will be immediately after. Wait for the group near the walk up trail.
MARTA PARK & RIDE LOT
Free public parking in Stone Mountain Village
From Hwy 78 take exit 5 - stay right for a half mile - then a quick exit to E. Ponce/Stone Mtn. Village. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so into town. Turn left on East Mountain. Turn right on Fourth Street. There you will find the MARTA park and ride.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review the AOC cancellation policy.
*Note: Hike will be cancelled if there is a high probability of rain. Also if there is a heavy rain Sunday before the hike it will also be a likely cancellation as the mountain will likely still be slippery. |
