Itinerary:

Hiking on established trails we will start at Akers Mill parking lot (elevation ~1,000 ft) hike to Rottenwood Creek (elevation ~800 ft) , and up the creek to Akers Mill Ruin for some some exploration. Returning to the Hooch we will circle Blood Rock Ridge by continuing along the shoreline northerly to Lighting Rock. After returning to the Ridge Trail, we'll head north then take a jaunt down to Sandy Point and back to the parking lot.

Note: We'll be on the lookout for cool birds flitting about (e.g. golden or red crowned kinglets, brown headed nuthatch, cedar waxwings) and wildflowers (e.g. toadshade trillium, violets, trout lilly).

This is a rain or shine hike.

From eastbound Interstate 285

Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
Right on Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
Right 1.5 miles to Akers Drive
Left at the wooden "mill wheel."
Unit entrance road will be the second left with visitor parking on the right.

From westbound Interstate 285

Take exit 22, New Northside Drive, Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
Straight to second traffic light.
Left on Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
Right 1.5 miles to Akers Drive
Left at the wooden "mill wheel."
Unit entrance road will be the second left with visitor parking being on the right

Remember to bring three dollar parking fee, unless you have a Chattahoochee NRA annual parking pass.
