Itinerary:
Educational Leisurely Arkaquah Trail Hike (mostly downhill)

We will be hiking on the Arkaquah Trail, which may be familiar to some, but we will also bushwack a mile or so to something that may be unfamiliar. We'll start walking at 4,500 ft. and remain above 3,000 ft, for most of the way. It could be cooler and windier than the forecasts for lower lying areas may indicate; so it's a good idea to bring some layers that can be added or shedded.  Along the trail we will stop often to discuss flora, fauna, etc.  Although most of the hike will occur on the Arkaquah Trail, there will be a mile or so of off-trail hiking involved to some unique and interesting places that you've probably never seen.

Our hike could take up to 5 or 6 hours instead of around 2 to 3 hours as opposed to 3 hours as one might expect for 6 miles of simply hiking. Instead of walking like we're going somewhere, we'll be walking like we're already there.

This hike will have along a Georgia Forest Watch Guide, Ben Cash, who will provide tons of valuable information on the unique flora and fauna in the area.  Ben is extremely knowledgeable about our flora and fauna and can provide insight into many of these topics.

The plan is for us to meet at Trackrock Gap, leave vehicles with at least 10 seats and shuttle everyone to Brasstown Bald for the 6 mile walk to Trackrock Gap where we'll have seats for all of us to return to Brasstown Bald to retrieve vehicles or return home.
